Rockies’ Mark Reynolds, on verge of 300 career homers, officially makes roster

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Mark Reynolds will get his chance to join the 300 home run club this season, but that’s not why the veteran slugger is thrilled to have made the Rockies’ 25-man roster.

“I wanted to come to this team because I think it has a chance to be special,” Reynolds said Tuesday as the move became official.

Reynolds, 35, originally signed a minor-league deal with the Rockies, but now that he has made the team, he’ll make $1 million. That’s the same deal he had in 2017 when he ended up as Colorado’s primary first baseman and turned in one of the best seasons of his 12-year career.
