Rockies lose rubber game against Pirates at Coors Field

When a team is in the playoff chase in August, big moments require big at-bats. But the Rockies, again, failed to deliver in the clutch Wednesday afternoon in a 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh at Coors Field.

Colorado was 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and lost for the seventh time in 10 games.

Ryan McMahon’s single drove in Nolan Arenado to get Colorado within a run in the eighth with one out. With Trevor Story perched on third, pinch hitter Ian Desmond struck out and Chris Iannetta hit a 106.8 mph scorching grounder that second baseman Adam Frazier gobbled up for the final out.
