It was a fitting end to the worst calendar month in Rockies’ history.
Closer Wade Davis served up two home runs in the ninth inning Wednesday afternoon as the Dodgers busted up a classic pitchers’ duel in a 5-1 victory at Coors Field. Davis was met with a cascade of boos as he left the mound after Will Smith hit a three-run home run to deep center field, and Kristopher Negron followed up with a two-run blast to right.
The Rockies finished July with a 6-19 record, making it the worst full calendar month of baseball in franchise history.
