Reynolds was removed from the Rockies' 12-9 victory over the Rangers on Thursday afternoon when he felt pain on a swing and miss at Jeremy Jeffress' 96-mph sinker in the seventh inning. Reynolds crumpled to the turf in pain, and he was replaced by Cristhian Adames.
It turns out Reynolds -- hitting .283 with 12 home runs, 50 RBIs and a .354 on-base percentage -- had been playing in pain for a couple of weeks. But with shortstop Trevor Story out after undergoing surgery on his left thumb, right fielder Carlos Gonzalez limited by a sprained left ankle and the team going through a rough stretch after pushing into postseason contention, Reynolds played through the issue until Thursday.
