SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – From being designated for assignment, traded, sent down to the minors, catching two no-hitters and catching the last inning of the 2015 World Series, catcher Drew Butera has seen it all in his 10 seasons in the major leagues.
Butera, 36, is in camp with the Rockies as a non-roster invitee, having signed as a free agent in December with hopes of extending his career.
“We have a great opportunity to win here and I think I’m closer toward the end than the beginning of my career,” Butera said. “I enjoy winning much more than the process of just kind of like rebuilding or going through that stage so I want to go to a place that I know there is a good chance to win.
