From whiffle ball games at the park to the major leagues, the Rockies’ cousins never stop competing.
On Thursday at Coors Field, the family competitiveness between Nolan Arenado and Josh Fuentes emerged once again. Fuentes hit his first career homer, a 385-foot blast to left in the second inning. But in the next inning, Arenado — not to be outdone by his younger cousin — one-upped Fuentes with a solo shot of his own, 394 feet to left-center.
Both home runs came off Cardinals’ starter Miles Mikolas, and Fuentes had barely stopped smiling from his round-tripper on a two-strike hanging slider when Arenado got hold of a fastball for his 39th homer.
