Asked to explain his disastrous first start of the season, Rockies left-hander Jorge De La Rosa shrugged his shoulders and got right to the point.
"I left the ball up. I got hit hard. I have to do better," he said, explaining last Monday's game in which he gave up nine runs (seven earned) on nine hits in two innings as the Padres scorched the Rockies, 14-3. It was the shortest outing of De La Rosa's career at Coors Field.
De La Rosa wants to leave that game in the waste bin of baseball history. He's ready to move on to his second start of the season, which arrives Saturday night at home against the San Francisco Giants.
