Nobody’s giving the Rockies much of a chance this year. Colorado hasn’t made the playoffs since 2018 and finished fourth in the NL West three years running.
But here’s nine reasons to put on your purple shades and be optimistic the Rockies can defy the critics to contend again in 2022.
1. Bill Schmidt clearly has a blueprint. Colorado’s last few draft classes have been solid, while the first-year GM is making a point to secure roster pillars long-term (Antonio Senzatela, Ryan McMahon).
2. The top of the starting rotation, if healthy, can carry the team.
