NEW YORK — Softspoken second baseman DJ LeMahieu is not prone to hyperbole. He doesn’t get too high or too low. So his take on the Rockies’ chances to become legitimate playoff contenders is worth noting.
“We just need to keep doing what we’re doing, no matter where we play,” he said. “We need to keep executing. If we keep up that, we can be a dangerous team down the stretch.”
LeMahieu’s theory gets a severe test beginning Tuesday night when the Rockies open a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Coors Field. Then come three games against the Miami Marlins and two against the Texas Rangers.
