Rockies hitters weren’t messing around on a rainy Tuesday night at Coors Field. They didn’t leave anything to chance and tried to take the club’s beleaguered bullpen out of the equation.
The Rockies launched four home runs, including back-to-back-to-back blasts in a six-run third inning in a 10-8 win over the Mets. The victory, just the third in Colorado’s last 11 games, snapped an eight-game losing streak at Coors Field, the longest in franchise history.
The game was tied 2-2 in the third when Colorado began its onslaught against left-hander Jason Vargas. It began, innocently enough, with a single by Charlie Blackmon.
