German Marquez’s spring performance, accompanied by the cold, hard numbers, says that his improbable dream looks closer to impossible now.
Not so said the Rockies’ 27-year-old right-hander.
“I still have the stuff to win a Cy Young,” Marquez said. “I have been working so hard to get back and be one of the top pitchers. I still can be.”
But Marquez, a first-time All-Star last season, has several things to fix before chasing the dream. He is scheduled to pitch against the Mets on Friday night at Coors Field, weather permitting. He’ll take the mound with a 1-3 record, 6.
