German Marquez flashed some of his familiar firepower by throwing a 98 mph fastball and striking out seven over six innings on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Coors Field.
But that doesn’t mean the Rockies’ right-hander fixed what’s been ailing him.
The Mets tagged Marquez for five runs (four earned) on 11 hits en route to a 5-1 victory in the first game of a doubleheader. The Mets roughed up Marquez in the first two innings, and given how ineffective Colorado’s offense was, those two innings were more than enough.
