Scott Van Lenten, who was hired by the Rockies last fall to head the club’s beefed-up analytics department, was fired on Tuesday, The Denver Post has learned.
The Rockies confirmed the move but said it would not comment on internal matters. A source told The Post that there were “major disagreements” regarding Van Lenten’s role with the club.
Van Lenten, 38, was hired as the club’s director of research and development and was charged with revamping the club’s analytics department under new general manager Bill Schmidt.
The Rockies have had a relatively small analytics department and lost several employees during the pandemic.
