Every night, it seems, is a wild adventure at Coors Field. But Friday night’s adventure went beyond wild to certifiable.
Ultimately, the sloppy, 4-hour, 30-minute game was won by the Arizona Diamondbacks, who came back from the dead — twice — to beat the Rockies 10-9 in the longest nine-inning game in Colorado’s history. There were 30 hits and five errors, four of them committed by Arizona.
The Rockies were inches from a walk-off when when Nick Hundley almost smashed a three-run homer to left, but Rickie Weeks made a terrific catch at the wall.
The Colorado relief pitcher in the harsh spotlight was, once again, young closer Carlos Estevez, who gave up two runs in the ninth.
