The Rockies travel to Mesa today and will face the Cubs at 1:05 at Sloan Park. While Nolan Arenado is away playing for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, they can’t field a full-strength lineup. Pat Valaika will get the start at third base today. He’s having a good spring and should be competitive for a utility infielder spot in the regular season.
With David Dahl out, the Rockies have to fill in using their outfield depth. It looks like they think Mark Reynolds could be a part of that group of outfielders, as the veteran is getting the start in left field.
