Groke talked to Daniel Murphy, who is trying to play further away from the first base bag in order to mess with a hitter’s mentality. Ryan McMahon buys into the idea, nothing that the data supports what they are seeking to accomplish. Third base coach Stu Cole also said he has seen things work well with this approach.
