PITTSBURGH — What if I told you that the Rockies would score five runs — on the road, mind you — and bang out 13 hits, including a homer from C.J. Cron. Plus, they would get a solid start from a rookie fill-in.
And lose.
That’s exactly what happened Wednesday afternoon at PNC Park.
The Pirates came back from deficits of 3-0 and 5-2 to beat the Rockies 10-5 and win the three-game series. The decisive blows: a three-run homer by Jack Suwinski off Carlos Estevez to tie the game 5-5 in the sixth, and a three-run blast by Josh VanMeter off Justin Lawrence in the seventh.
