SAN DIEGO — This one’s gonna hurt, and leave a mark. Whether it has a lasting impact on the Rockies’ playoff chances remains to be seen.
Despite a magnificent eight-inning start from German Marquez, the Rockies lost 3-2 in 13 innings to the San Diego Padres Thursday at Petco Park.
San Diego, last in the National League West and already looking to next season, won the game on Franmil Reyes solo home run off right-handed reliever Bryan Shaw, who has yet to evolve into the steady bullpen force the Rockies projected him to be. Reyes crushed Shaw’s 1-1 82 mph slider to center field.
