C.J. Cron’s sizzling August earned him a big honor.
The Rockies’ first baseman on Thursday was named the National League Player of the Month. Cron hit .387, with 11 home runs, eight doubles and an OPS of 1.297. He also drove in 34 runs.
He beat out Philadelphia’s Bryce Harper, who hit .337, with 10 homers, 11 doubles, one triple, 25 RBIs and an OPS of 1.231.
Cron, 31, became the 21st Rockies player to be named player of the month. He’s the first since outfielder Charlie Blackmon was honored in June 2019.
Former first baseman Todd Helton won the award four times, the most in franchise history.
