Michael McKenry played through most of this season on one leg, he said — and even then, he was hitting triples like never before. But a lingering knee injury finally reached a tipping point for the Colorado catcher.
A torn lateral meniscus in his right knee force the Rockies to move McKenry to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday. McKenry is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday with Rockies team doctor Thomas Noonan.
The Rockies replaced him by calling up Dustin Garneau from Triple-A Albuquerque. Garneau, 28, will likely make his major-league debut Thursday catching Yohan Flande against the Washington Nationals.
