The Rockies’ season-long search for effective starting pitchers continues.
Right-hander Peter Lambert will be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Friday night’s game at Miami, a source confirmed. Also, struggling right-hander Connor Seabold will be delegated to the bullpen.
The Rockies have lost four starting pitchers to injury this season: right-handers German Marquez (Tommy John surgery), Antonio Senzatela (Tommy John) and Ryan Feltner (skull fracture), and lefty Kyle Freeland (dislocated right shoulder). Colorado starters have a collective ERA of 6.48, the worst in the majors.
Lambert, 26, was Colorado’s long reliever earlier in the season until he was the starter in a bullpen game against Detroit on July 1 at Coors Field.
