Complete games have been as rare as May sunshine for the Rockies.
We're not talking about a nine-inning pitching performance, but rather, a complete-game effort from everyone.
Colorado finally got such a performance Thursday afternoon in a 7-3 victory over Philadelphia at Coors Field. And, for a moment or two, the sun actually poked through the gloom that has been Colorado weather this month.
Sparked by outfielder Brandon Barnes' four-hit performance, Colorado knocked out 12 hits, including a two-run homer by catcher Michael McKenry that broke a 3-3 tie in the fifth. It was McKenry's first homer of the season.
