SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Two days into spring training, the Rockies’ bullpen is a crowded place. That’s going to make for heated competition in the coming weeks.
Wednesday, new manager Bud Black reiterated that young pitchers who don’t make the starting rotation could be in line to become relievers. That group could include right-handers Jeff Hoffman, German Marquez and Antonio Senzatela, as well as left-hander Kyle Freeland.
Black, however, also expressed confidence that veteran right-handers Jason Motte and Chad Qualls — both of whom struggled last season, in part because of injuries — will be in the mix.
