Rockies believe their strong start is sustainable, unlike past seasons

The Rockies have hiked this promising early-season path before, only to fall into the abyss of another losing season.

In 2011, for example, the Rockies teased their fans with a 12-4 start, but went 8-21 in May and finished the season 73-89.

In 2013, Walt Weiss‘ first year as manager, the Rockies busted out of the gate with a 12-4 record. They hung tough, hovered around .500 for much of the summer, but were doomed by a 1-9 East Coast road trip in late July and early August and stumbled to a 74-88 finish.

The 2017 brand of Rockies are 10-6 entering this weekend’s series against San Francisco at Coors Field.
