For eight innings, the road Rockies portended misery. The wretched afternoon – headlined by an injury to starter Kyle Freeland – appeared destined to end in another road loss.
But three outs from a road sweep, the Rockies rallied Wednesday afternoon, with help from the Rangers. After one out consecutive walks, shortstop Brendan Rodgers ripped a first-pitch double to left-center field, scoring two and making it 6-5 Rockies.
Four errors later, yes, four errors, including three by Rangers first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, and the Rockies had tacked on three more runs.
Colorado’s wild 9-5 victory in Arlington staved off a sweep and momentarily distracted from Freeland, who exited with a left hip impingement.
