The Colorado Rockies and right-handed closer Daniel Bard have agreed to terms on a contract extension. Per MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the extension is for two years and worth $19 million.
The move should not come as a surprise for a Rockies team that already stated they would not be major sellers at the deadline, and have been rumored to be interested in extending Bard for months.
Bard, 37, was originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the 2006 draft. A top prospect and promising reliever, Bard made his major league debut with the Red Sox in 2009.
