Rockies and Padres suspended in the fifth inning

Rain put a stop to Eddie Butler's nice outing.

We'll have to wait until September to find out whether or not the Rockies can avoid the sweep.

The Rockies took advantage of some poor Padres defense and solid pitching from Eddie Butler to secure a 1-0 lead heading into the fifth inning. After a second inning single Nolan Arenado single, Ben Paulsen reached on error by Jedd Gyorko, after which Arenado ended up at third base. Nick Hundley then singled Arenado in to take the lead. Eddie Butler was sharp, despite not having his best stuff. In four scoreless innings, he allowed two hits.
