PHILADELPHIA — The Rockies’ lineup underwent a major shakeup Friday as the team began a three-game series against the Phillies.
First baseman Mark Reynolds, as expected, was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a broken hamate bone in his left hand. Surgery to repair the bone is a possibility.
Ben Paulsen, 28, who has major-league experience, was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to replace Reynolds at first base.
Colorado also made moves to prop up its struggling bullpen, purchasing the contract of right-hander Matt Carasiti from Triple-A and designating veteran right-hander Gonzalez Germen for assignment.
