The 2018 MLB Draft is in the books. The Rockies made 41 picks total in this year’s draft, the first one coming in the first round at 22nd overall: Ryan Rolison, a left handed pitcher from Ole Miss. The last pick was a catcher from Saddleback Community College in Mission Viejo, California, Brett Auerbach (you can catch video and analysis of Auerbach here).
After drafting Grant Lavigne out of a New Hampshire high school, the Rockies drafted 30 straight college players, 17 of which were pitchers. Their next seven picks were all high school players, and five of those were pitchers.
