One of a series breaking down the 2017 Rockies. Today: the outfield.
Charlie Blackmon didn’t just have a great season, he had an historic one.
He won the National League batting title, swatted 37 home runs and set the all-time record for RBIs by a leadoff hitter. And that’s just skimming the surface of what the Rockies’ center fielder and National League MVP candidate accomplished in 2017.
Blackmon’s remarkable tale overshadowed every other outfield storyline, and there were some intriguing ones: Gerardo Parra‘s comeback; Carlos Gonzalez‘s lingering slump; David Dahl‘s season-crippling injury; Ian Desmond’s transition to left field; and the rookie adventures of Raimel Tapia.
