It was a coincidence but the most pressing topic this week for baseball commissioner Rob Manfred is an issue that could affect the first-place Rockies in a pennant race.
Manfred continued a barnstorming tour of major league cities in Denver on Wednesday with a closed-door conversation with Rockies owner Dick Monfort. His address later to assembled reporters concerned possible changes to Major League Baseball’s roster rules.
MLB had a tentative agreement with the major league players’ union before this season to expand rosters to 26 players, Manfred said. But the agreement was dependent on limiting September rosters to 28 players.
