Right-hander Riley Pint, the fourth overall pick of the 2016 draft, was one of five players the Rockies added to their 40-man roster ahead of Tuesday’s deadline. The five players are now protected from being selected in the Rule 5 draft on Dec. 7 at the winter meetings in San Diego.
In addition to Pint, the Rockies added right-hander Blair Calvo, infielders Warming Bernabel and Julio Carreras, and outfielder Brenton Doyle. The Rockies now have 38 players on their 40-man roster.
Pint, 25, was selected out of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Overland Park, Kansas as a hard-throwing, highly-touted prospect.
