Right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez to make Rockies debut Tuesday in San Francisco

Right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez will make his Rockies debut Tuesday against the Giants, nearly three full years since the former first-round pick by the Rangers last pitched in the majors.

The 27-year-old appeared in parts of two seasons for Texas in 2015 and 2016 before a UCL injury derailed his career. He had Tommy John surgery to repair his right elbow in 2017, and missed most of 2018 as a result of the operation. Colorado signed him to a minor-league contract last December.

Gonzalez burst on the scene with Texas as a rookie, carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning against the Red Sox in his debut before proceeding to throw a complete-game shutout in his second big-league outing.
