To the Rockies fans who never thought they’d ever be willed to root for the Dodgers in any way, shape or form … Well, Rich Hill wrote something that will likely change your mind.
The Los Angeles left-hander released an emotional tribute to his late son on The Players Tribune on Tuesday. In heartbreaking detail, it told of Hill and his family’s battle with his infant son’s gene-linked brain malformation called Lissencephaly.
His son, Brooks, passed away from the disease when he was less than two months old, in February 2014, right before Hill reported to Red Sox spring training that year.
