After making two big offseason moves, the Rockies have begun adding some veteran depth, having reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with veteran utility player Alexi Amarista.
The deal was reported Monday by FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman. The Rockies have not confirmed the deal and the financial terms of the deal are not known. Earlier this offseason, the club signed Ian Desmond to a five-year, $70 million contract to be their primary first baseman, and also signed left-handed reliever Mike Dunn to a three-year, $19 million deal.
New Rockies manager Bud Black knows Amarista well, having managed him for more than four seasons in San Diego.
