Report: Colorado Rockies Kyle Parker will be designated for assignment

According to a report by MLB.com’s Thomas Harding, the Colorado Rockies will cut former first round pick Kyle Parker. The newly signed Gerardo Parra will take Parker’s spot on the 40-man roster.

The outfielder and first basemen was drafted 26th overall in the 2010 entry draft. Parker has spent parts of two seasons in the majors and five full seasons in the minors. The right-handed hitting Parker played 64 games for the Rockies, hitting .182 with three home runs and 12 RBI. His action was very limited as the Rockies outfield became ever so crowded and he failed to make an impact.
