LOS ANGELES — The Rockies have entered baseball’s twilight zone.
It’s a curious place where rookies and assorted prospects strive to make the most of their playing time and attempt to impress their teammates, coaches and front office. For prideful veterans, it’s about finishing the season strong, healthy and confident.
The reeling Rockies (59-79) have not been in playoff contention for weeks. Hardcore fans, rightfully so, are not just disappointed, they are angry about the lack of quality play that has gone on for more than two months.
Yet despite that truly awful stretch of baseball — Colorado had lost 12 of its last 14 games entering Monday night’s game again the powerful Dodgers — the Rockies don’t believe they are a team of losers.
