Reds’ John Lamb silences Rockies, who lose another game at Coors Field

Ask around the Rockies’ clubhouse and players will tell you things like, “we’ve underperformed so far.” Or they’ll insist, “I think we’ve put the roughest part of our season behind us.”

But those words will continue to ring hallow until the team starts playing with some consistency.

Cincinnati, which arrived in Denver having lost 11 of its previous 13 games, dominated the Rockies 7-2 on Wednesday night at Coors Field, dropping the Rockies to 2-4 on their current seven-game homestand. Colorado was counting on a shutdown start from Tyler Chatwood. But he struggled early, and the Rockies’ offense barely made a dent against John Lamb, Cincinnati’s soft-tossing left-hander.
