The defending World Series champion Boston Red Sox have been knocked down a peg this year, especially coming off a historic season in which they tallied 119 total wins.
But Boston again proved it’s in another dimension compared to the Rockies, who rolled out a rookie pitcher in his major-league debut to unsurprising results and a 10-6 defeat.
Boston mashed right-hander Rico Garcia, who began the season in Double-A, for six runs in five innings on seven hits and five walks at Coors Field. The slugging Red Sox, fighting for their wild-card lives, hit three homers off Garcia, starting with Jackie Bradley Jr.
