SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — One of the beauties of spring training is the unproven talent on display: players who are fresh to the big-league stage and, though not competing for 26-man roster spots, are making enough noise to force fans to take note of their names for the future.
Utilityman Bret Boswell and right-hander Ashton Goudeau, both of whom played for Double-A Hartford last season, are doing just that for the Rockies early in camp at Salt River Fields.
Boswell, 25, is coming off a tough year for the Yard Goats in which he slashed .219/.290/.397, but his career momentum hasn’t been derailed after he played in the Arizona Fall League and then got off to a hot start at spring training.
