SAN DIEGO — It hurts to be on the wrong side of history. Just ask the Rockies.
They watched third baseman Christian Villanueva blast three home runs off them at Petco Park on Tuesday night as the Padres cruised to an 8-4 victory. It was the eighth time in San Diego history that a player launched three homers in the same game.
Villanueva’s first two bombs were solo shots off Rockies left-handed starter Kyle Freeland. The third was a three-run homer of right-handed reliever Antonio Senzatela in the seventh that iced the game. All three rockets were launched to left field.
