One of the more subtle battles in spring training for the Colorado Rockies is the bench. It consists of a backup catcher (likely Hunter Goodman), a fourth outfielder (likely Sam Hilliard), and a utility player (Kyle Farmer) who leaves at least one more spot for the Rockies to fill.
The path of least resistance is for the Rockies to simply carry outfielder/first baseman Sean Bouchard on the roster. The 28-year-old has certainly made the case to earn the spot after a strong showing in camp, showcasing his ability to get on base. He can play both corner outfield spots as well as first base and was slated for a starting role the last two years before injuries robbed him in spring training.
