The Isotopes took the lead in the top of the first and never looked back en route to a 6-3 win. John Lannan pitched eight strong innings, giving up five hits and a run. The 30 year old improved his season ERA to 3.25. Lannan, who isn't on the 40 man roster, will only see purple pinstripes if the Rockies really need him. But he's showing that he might be a nice fill in if it comes to it.
Tim Wheeler and Matt McBride both homered in the game. McBride, 30, continues to make the case that the Rockies won the Ubaldo trade, if only at the minor league level.
