SAN FRANCISCO — Nolan Arenado's phone was jammed with text messages. His father, Fernando, watched the replay over and over and was "pumped up."
It seemed like the only one who didn't reach out after Arenado's incredible catch Tuesday night was former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter.
"That would have been nice. That would have been sweet. That would have been the best part of it," Arenado said Wednesday.
A call from Jeter would have been appropriate, considering that baseball fans around the country are comparing Arenado's catch to Jeter's famous dive into the stands against the Boston Red Sox on July 1, 2004, at Yankee Stadium.
