Prior to the 2009 major-league draft, MLB.com published the following report on Nolan Arenado, then an 18-year-old prospect out of El Toro High School in Lake Forrest, Calif.:
Hitting ability: Has some bat ability and is very quick to the ball with the bat.
Power: He’s got above-average raw power.
Running speed: He’s duck-footed and lumbers.
Base running: It’s not a part of his game.
Arm strength: He’s got a good arm that plays as a plus behind the plate.
Fielding: He plays shortstop for his high school team, but that’s not where he’ll be at the next level.
