Nolan Arenado wants next Rockies manager to be fiery, but have players’ backs

“I want to see someone with some fire and energy, someone who can light a fire under the guys,” the all-star third baseman said Tuesday, a day after manager Walt Weiss resigned.

“At the same time, we need a guy who understands the players and has their back,” Arenado said. “I thought Walt was very good at that, he always had your back. Walt understands how tough this game is and what a grind it is over a long season.”

General manager Jeff Bridich said Monday that he will look for a new manager inside and outside the organization.
