ATLANTA — The one-two punch of Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado packed the power and panache of Sugar Ray Leonard Friday night, leading the Rockies to an 8-4 win over the Braves.
The win was Colorado’s ninth in its last 11 games and its seventh consecutive victory at Atlanta.
It wasn’t just Story and Arenado landing blows at SunTrust Park. The Rockies pounded out 12 hits, producing up and down the order.
The eighth inning provided a prime example of what manager Bud Black has been stressing since spring training. The Rockies pushed across three runs, stringing together singles by Daniel Murphy and Ian Desmond, a two-run single by Ryan McMahon, a sacrifice bunt by Drew Butera and an RBI groundout by pinch hitter Mark Reynolds.
