Nolan Arenado praises Charlie Blackmon’s mental approach, scouting ability

DENVER — Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon has been in a Mitch Mitchell, Ginger Baker-like rhythm lately. Ask your parents.

Blackmon won the National League Player of the Week award yesterday for a seven-day stretch that saw him hit .563/.600/.1.313 with 7 home runs, including a three-homer game in Philadelphia, 13 runs scored and 9 RBI. That’s a 384 wRC+.

“He isn’t just putting the ball in play and he’s doing it with authority,” says teammate Nolan Arenado who knows a thing or two about elite-level production. “It’s been fun to watch.
