PHOENIX — A year ago at this time, the Rockies were quickly sliding toward oblivion. After 24 games, they were 11-13 and in fourth place in the National League West, already five games out.
Worse, they were five games into an ugly 11-game losing streak that scuttled their season. Trade rumors regarding shortstop Troy Tulowitzki were rampant. Things were a mess.
Sunday, the Rockies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-3, completing a three-game sweep at Chase Field. It was Colorado's first regular-season sweep at Arizona since July 23-25, 2004.
