Nolan Arenado on war of words between MLB, MLBPA as 2020 season heads toward cliff: “I hope fans are paying attention”

Monday dawned with the possibility that a 2020 Major League Baseball season could still be played. Not a perfect season by any means, and not without rancor between the owners and players, but a chance to play baseball nonetheless.

But by Monday afternoon, the truncated season was headed toward a cliff as MLB commissioner Rob Manfred contradicted a hopeful prediction he made just four days ago and MLB Players Association executive director Tony Clark unloaded on Manfred, saying “MLB has been negotiating in bad faith since the beginning.”

Many players, including Rockies all-star third baseman Nolan Arenado, believe Manfred and the owners have been attempting to shorten the season in order to save money during a summer without fans in the stands due to the coronavirus.
